Apple Fifth Avenue Store, USA

Pub Time:2019-09-29 10:31:53

The project is a collaboration between the design team led by Apple Chief Design Officer Jonathan Ivey and the engineering team of Foster Architecture. By carefully stripping the historical hierarchy and making sensitive repairs to the cube, Apple's Fifth Avenue flagship store rejuvenates the square by creating three facades of entrances and exits, thus demonstrating Apple's spirit of continuous progress and innovation. The Plaza is a perfect stage to show Apple's values, including photography, music, programming, art and design. As people move up the broad steps into space, they become part of the bustling urban life of New York. From 58th Street to 59th Street, shaded linear fountains and stone seats create a quiet buffer zone for citizens in the busy traffic. In addition, there are two separate auxiliary entrances to the store below. The flagship store of the glass cube presents nine beautiful innovative art installations, which are the "Mirror of the Sky" arranged in a grid. These public sculptures enable visitors to interact with the famous New York skyline in a new way. Their seamless surface shape allows people to sit on it and rest, and see the reflective urban buildings in the mirror. These "Sky Mirror" conceals a circulating cooling system that absorbs solar energy while preventing frost, allowing visitors to use it all year round. Mirror glass also reflects twice as much sunlight into the store. The center of the square is a unique glass cube, which symbolizes the center of the activity and brings people to the shops below. Visitors follow round elevators or spectacular stainless steel staircases to the bottom of the glass cube. Each part of these stairs and elevators is made of mirror stainless steel, reflecting the surrounding landscape and energy. These carefully selected materials obscure the architectural form, and the infinite reflection of light and skyline creates exciting exciting experiences.
